Indie Music Night at London's The Social

Updated: Dec 23, 2020

Tonight I am attending the Sonic Cathedral 15 Years if Celebrating Ourselves celebration at The Social in Little Portland Street, London W1. Special guest are said to be appearing and can only hope and guess at who it is. Could it be Andy Bell from Ride and Oasis? He has released a few records on Sonic Cathedral! Luckily for me The Social is right by where I work so travel is not going to be an issue and I am excited to be attending. the music venue has a rich history of indie music since 1999 it evolved out of the legendary Heavenly Sunday Social club nights. Over the years, it’s played host to everyone from the Chemical Brothers to Edna O’Brien, Wolf Alice to Adele, Caitlin Moran, Horace Andy, Bon Iver (first ever UK show), Young Fathers, DJ Yoda, Norman Cook, Kate Tempest, Cold War Steve, Irvine Welsh, Laura Marling, Jeremy Deller, Jack White, Fat White Family, Beck, the Avalanches, Kevin Rowland, Super Furry Animals, the Charlatans, Aphex Twin and Lily Allen (to name a few). It used to have a wicked juke box with records from Heavenly's roster: Doves, St Etienne etc. They even used to serve beans on toast - good times!

When working a little late I can even hear the deep bass drum of the sound checks of touring bands that visit. They also have an exclusive two-for-one loyalty cards which I am yet to get my hands on!!

Sonic Cathedral have a wicked Singles Club which I suggest you get involved in if you have a love of indie records on vinyl.

Cheers all!
